will check it out. I know Vic & NSW  have many shops and hams that do it from home. little bit sad we in adelaide don't have such folks yet I am sure they have the expertise. I have a go myself but some things are bit over my head.

I started my working life as an apprentice radio tech, in the 70s. That's when a two way radio was as big as a shoe box and you could identify what was what. About two years ago a friend asked me to look at his aircraft radio. I took the top off and discovered it was all in a big fat chip (VLSI). The only bits that stood out were the LM386 audio amp, a few voltage regulators and a filter cap. Without circuit diagrams and board layout diagrams it's pretty hard these days.
