VK5 Forum will be hosting a Get Out Do Something (GODS) day on Thursday 20 June 2024 at Pandappa Conservation Park VKFF-1131.

This will be a day trip a couple of hours up the road.

For those that bought their antennas to the Picnic in the Park day last month this is the perfect opportunity to bring those antennas along and see how they do.

VK5GM will be bringing toasted sandwiches, tea and coffee for a $6 charge. We do not profit from this modest fee, it all goes back into the kitty to provide better services next GODS day.

There are some logistics to be worked out even though its only a couple of hours up the road. Not everyone has the ability to drive there, so we can work on some sort of car pooling system. Details such as the time we will leave, where we will meet and leave from are still to be worked out. There will be a planning meeting on the VK5RHO repeater 146.850 on Tuesday night 11 June 2024 at 2000HRS (8PM) for those interested

This thread would be the best place to organise the car pooling. Throw your car pool buddy some money for fuel and Graham some money for food and beverage and for $20 you have a day out.

Please reply to vk5mch@vk5.au with your intention to Get Out Do Something and I will start the list running.

73's

We have been invited back to the Golden Grove Recreation and Arts Centre to present our Club and Amateur Radio.

We are asking for volunteers to help us set up and help man the table and giving demonstrations of radios using the link repeater systems, generally encouraging people to join the hobby. Bring your portable radios along so we can set up a net to demonstrate how it works. Even if you can't manage the whole day come along mingle and show support and please wear your name badges. This is a great way to support the club in the community. See you there. If you can help or offer something to display let us know by contacting Tony VK5FBIC or other committee members

VK5BEN Alan
VK5TOM Tom
VK5MCH Mick
VK5GM Graham
VK5PH Paul
VK5AK Bob
VK5PRO Peter and Son
VK5ZKR Rod
VK3NEB Ben

The winner on the day was VK5PH by 0.75 S-points.

Thanks go to VK5GM for setting up the food and beverage stand and VK5TOM for bringing the rolls. Me the cook on the day.

One thing learned you can never bring enough tools, measuring and test equipment to any outing.

I look forward to our next outing. The date and location will be posted soon.

VK5AK Bob pulled in a Victorian VK3CJ with an excellent signal on his BB7W, which previous to this he was pretty disappointed in.

All in all a very good day.
