Hello Everyone

Just wondering if anyone is using Meshtastic in Adelaide?

Responding to my own thread since nobody else appears interested......

Of my testing with my lora32 mounted in a box at the top of a small mast with a groundplane antenna out of the top, theres heaps of nodes and repeaters all over Adelaide.

Here is a map website I found.

I had to Google meshtastic as I have never heard of it. I looked at the map, now I have to ask, what are these 'nodes' actually doing, what do they share in common?

VK5TM

The one in the middle of the Happy Valley Reservoir has me intrigued  ???

VK5TOM

They share a chat channel in common each node is a repeater its a mesh network.

So, a bit like CB but neither 477mhz or 27mhz?

VK5TOM

Like CB in the fact that anyone can join and chat.

Aslong as you have the correct hardware, firmware loaded, correct antenna and the app on the phone you can join the mesh and chat.

Here I was thinking this was a relatively short range system - looking at the map I see a few nodes like Murray Bridge and Basket Range have been heard in Christchurch, New Zealand.

I reckon those are false decodes or maybe internet mqtt linking.

Current distance record with lora
915mhz is around 200km.
